We had the idea for this newsletter after hundreds of hours spent building Navattic demos for our past companies and current clients. We love making remarkable interactive demos, and want to share helpful tips and examples so you can too.
A huge thanks to Navattic for helping make this a reality. If you want to create a better experience for your buyers, go check them out.
Jason and I always say "don't hide your demos," but Lili takes it a step further with "our demo will find you."
They've done something really cool where if you try to leave their site on your first visit, you get hit with a big CTA to "Explore Demo." They put it front and center and make it easy for you to hit that aha moment before you bounce.
This may seem a little intrusive to some, but we loved the experience live because it:
Catches people right when they're about to give up
Shows empathy in that they know you only want to see one thing
This reminds me of Instawork's 10-second popup from Edition #18, but Lili waits for the exact moment you're trying to leave instead of interrupting your browsing.
Most companies just let visitors walk away. Lili gives their demo one last shot to win them over.
Historically, resource centers are a bit messy. They contain all these types of content, poorly organized, with tons of filters as the only line of defense.
Omnissa built a really beautiful resource center, then within that resource center created a subsection for their "Interactive Demo Center." Instead of filtering through every other resource, it takes you to an equally beautiful demo center page.
Weβre big fans of this approach because:
Demos need their own space instead of competing with whitepapers and case studies
Easier to track demo engagement separately from other content
Sometimes the best way to highlight something important is to give it its own room in the house.
Most people probably think itβs weird to put your demo on Twitter. Us included.
And then Remote decides to do something that makes us think "why haven't we tried this?" Instead of just dropping a link to their demo, they created a video showing what it looks like to actually take their tour.
Weβre definitely stealing this because it:
Gives people a preview without leaving the platform
Shows the actual demo experience instead of just describing it
Creates a more engaging post than a plain text link
This reminds me of Splunk's video-to-tour combo from Edition #14, but Remote brings that concept to social media where most companies are still just posting boring links.
Dry those eyes my friend. With Navattic, building a sandbox is easier than ever!
With this new demo type, you just click around your app and Navattic will automatically create each anchor point for you.
And with Present mode, reps can present your sandbox during live calls to provide an interactive, personalized experience that keeps prospects engaged.
